Disaster Management : Training of Veterinary Doctors in Managements of Animals in Emergencies in Bihar
In pursuance of Initiative taken by Policy Perspectives Foundation (PPF) in the field of ‘Livestock Management in Disasters’, 4-days training of first batch (35) of Veterinary Doctors commenced at Patna from June 4, 2018. This programme was organised by Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA) in association with Bihar Animal Science University (BASU), Animal & Fisheries Resources Dept, Bihar, World Animal Protection (WAP) & PPF.
The programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for Disaster Management, Bihar. In his key note address, KM Singh, Vice President PPF outlined the initiatives taken in this field at national & state levels. Other speakers in the Inaugural session included Dr Muzaffar Ahmed, Former Member, NDMA, Shri Vyas Ji,VC, BSDMA, Shri PN Rai, Member,BSDMA, Dr Rameshwar Singh, VC, BASU, Dr Samantaray, Dean, BVC & Gajender Sharma, WAP.
On this occasion ‘A Veterinarians Handbook for Disaster Management’ was released and the VC BSDMA announced its decision of training all the veterinary doctors in Bihar , numbering around 1000, in 30 batches in similar 4-days training programmes.
